Pakuranga College has 4 youth workers and one Team Leader.
Youth Worker and Team Leader
As Team Leader, I manage the youth workers and help connect them with needs within Pakuranga. I have been with the team since 2015. I have a degree in Early Childhood education. I am passionate about working with youth and helping others do the same. I work an average of 25 hours per week at Pakuranga as Team Leader and also focused on the Nikau House. I also work at Pakuranga as a relieving teacher.
Carmel grew up in the greater Howick area and graduated from Pakuranga College. She has her Youth Worker National Certificate, level 3. Carmel was instrumental to getting Pakuranga's team together and continues to set the bar for youth work in East Auckland.
I have been working at Pakuranga as a youth worker since 2016. When I'm not at school, I study Law at AUT. I really love my job as a youth worker and have recently started helping out in OLC as a teacher aide which I really enjoy too. My goal as a youth worker is to make sure all the students I work with know that they are cared for, valued and that their voice matters. I focus primarily on Totara House.

I am just getting started in youth work at Pakuranga in 2021. I am also studying to get my Youth Worker Certificate, level 3. (my photo and more to come...)
I joined the youth worker team in 2019. I have worked in youth work before and I have a passion for supporting and encouraging young people through their difficult teenage years. I work an average of 10 hours per week as a youth worker and focus on Rimu House. My main interests outside of school are coffee, watersports, and seeing parts of our beautiful country.
