Pakuranga College Peer Support Camp

18th February 2009

Wednesday 18th-Friday the 20th of February 2009

A great opportunity to serve our local school!

For Youth Leaders and Youth Workers

Young Life has been involved in Pakuranga College's Peer Support Programme for over 5 years. The Peer Support programme welcomes year 9 students by connecting them with year 13 students where they discuss topical issues that young teenagers face, peer pressure, drugs etc. The programme runs throughout term 1, commencing with a 3 day camp and followed by weekly sessions on a Friday morning 8:30-9:30am.

Pakuranga College has asked us to provide 15 adult leaders for their camp this year. Volunteer leaders have the opportunity to get alongside teachers and students at camps held in six locations. It's heaps of fun and it's a great way for us to serve the local community and build potentially life long relationships with Students and staff. Volunteers are also welcome to continue to attend peer support training sessions for the remainder of term 1 and are of course welcome to maintain other involvement in the school through Young Life.

Volunteers don't have to pay anything to attend these great camps, so if you are interested please let me know asap. If you know of anyone else who would like to attend one of the peer support camps please let me know also.

If you want to help out on camp here's what you need to do...

1. Contact Matt Chamberlin about your interest ASAP
2. Make sure you have a current Police Check and email or deliver it to Matt Chamberlin. Current means that your check is no more than two years old. If you don't have a current police check form click here.
3. Fill out a Pakuranga College Health Form and email or deliver it to Matt Chamberlin

4. Download a gear list and pack accordingly
